The Pier

During the winter, Erik and Nils Petter secretly start building a room under a pier on the outskirts of Malmö. Six months later, by the early summer of the following year, it is finished.

The rumor spreads, media report and the story begins to take on a life of its own. Thousands of people crawl in through the small hole and visit the room under the pier and some write in the guestbooks. The postman promises to deliver mail. Someone leaves a boat as a thank you for a place to sleep, and a couple gets married in the room.

The project eventually becomes a film made by Nils Petter Löfstedt that will be shown on Swedish television (svt) and a photo book by Nils Petter Löfstedt that will be nominated for the Swedish Photo Book Award 2011 and an art exhibition that will be shown internationally.

After six months, the room is demolished. Where it once lay there are now only tons of tiny white stones.
